World Cup 26 continues to play havoc with my body clock as I stayed up to watch the USA foil the dastardly Bosnians. This after the fucking Belgians mounted the latest of comebacks to beat Senegal (who only have themselves to blame). To be honest I’m not sure why they bothered playing the games as once again England showed themselves to be a class apart when tearing DR Congo a new one by 2-1. The majestic Harry Kane lashed home the winner.
The English football media, as it always does, whipped itself into a milky froth after the final whistle that everything was going to alright and that after 60 years it is coming home. Naturally after 75 minutes they wanted Tom Tuchel’s head on a stick for a performance that was immersed in ineptitude. Why they lurch to these extremes I’ll never know and they’ll never learn.

I did like the attack line that started coming out about an hour after the final whistle (after the Sir Harry Kane petitioning had calmed down a bit) that Mexico being allowed to play all of their home games at altitude as 'hosts' (and group winners) is basically cheating, and FIFA has had the whole thing sewn up from the start.
