The Tuesday Stickler
The real story behind Aberdeen’s tailspin and Hibs resurgence
It’s a sunny and frigid Tuesday.
I wonder if Brendan still has his rage on with the supporters? If the Count is still seething over that penalty. If Simo has any regrets.
What I do know is that I have an exclusive story for you.
Before I start I’ve slightly tweaked the prices of The Stickler making it even greater value than ever before. A monthly subscription is now £4.80 which is the same I get charged for a vanilla latte or a decent pint in my local area. That’s one drink versus a month of quality cartooning and a laugh and a smile (technically priceless).
An annual subscription is now £48. That’s £4 a month or 12 months for the price of 10, however you want to see it. About 1,500 cartoons for that. Unreal.
The paywall will always kick in after the first couple of cartoons so there’s always a little bit for free but for the full experience and support me doing this work (and I need paid subscribers to do that) then please consider a paid subscription.
Okay, I want you to cast your mind back to Tuesday 26th November 2024. I was at Easter Road watching Hibs take on Aberdeen. Hibs were on a brutal run and the manager’s peg was shoogly. Aberdeen were no longer unbeaten having lost in Paisley at the weekend. This was their big reset game. Something weird happened in injury time of this game. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it at the time but looking back from where we are now, with a resurgent Hibs going from bottom to the cusp of the top six and Aberdeen in free fall, it totally makes sense.
And so dear reader, to the truth. We pick up at the moment in stoppage time when Ester Sokler attempts to give Aberdeen the lead with an audacious overhead kick…
That’s me and my daughter in the Hibs main stand by the way. Front row seats.
