Good Thursday everyone

I’m beginning today’s Stickler with a big question that I’ve been pondering over the last 2 or 3 days. What is the most of evil of things. What represents evil to you?

Perhaps you think of genuinely evil people from real life such as Adolf Hitler or Harold Shipman. Maybe you think of fictional characters from horror like Freddy Krueger or Ghostface from Scream. Or maybe you think of the Devil himself.

According to columnists and journalists in the Scottish mainstream media there is another manifestation of evil - the Motherwell supporter.

I’m not saying the personal abuse Stuart Kettlewell and his family were subjected to was right, far from it, but the hand wringing from the media (that’s always quick to put the boot in) is way over the top and is vilifying the entire Motherwell support based on the actions of a few. Perspective seems to have been lost entirely and it’s all getting unnecessarily messy between players, staff and fans. What say you?

Last night was the Champions League extravaganza. 18 games at 8pm. A chance to listen to Ally McCoist minute by minute on the app? No thanks. I watched all the highlights on BBC rather than the live coverage so didn’t know any of the scores when it broadcast. What was noticeable about the BBC show is that you wouldn’t know that Celtic were a British team. The post match analysis of their game focused entirely on the Aston Villa perspective and their goals and players and prospects. That’s just not right.

In the game itself Villa came out the traps flying to lead 2-0 within five minutes and it all looked a bit Dortmund for the Bhoys in camouflage. That is until The Log was able to throw a branch out after John McGinn of all people diverted the ball into his path.

The lumbering piece of solid oak struck again two minutes later and we were suddenly all square at half time.
