The real gamechangers
The men in black (or sometimes yellow or red) will have their moment.
Hello
Five down and the big one to go later. Yet again my thoughts turn to the officiating in Scottish football. There’s no conspiracy it’s just really poor refereeing that’s the problem. The refs are being bailed out consistently by VAR despite VAR use itself being hugely problematic. A good ref can be a bad VAR. A bad ref will be a bad VAR.
David Dickinson. Last month he spent most of the game between Aberdeen and Leith at the pitch side monitor to correct most (but not all) of his mistakes. It was more of the same at Easter Road yesterday.
Imagine the fitba without the VAR. How different the outcomes of games would be. Jamie McGrath wouldn’t have been red carded, Daizen Maeda’s goal would have been disallowed and Joe Newell’s handball would have been missed <cough>. Completely different game. The mistakes would still be analysed to death and the outcries would be huge. Could fans live with that? I’d say no. The genie is out the bottle. Do these things even themselves out over the season? Who knows.
In the game itself it was a burly Celtic substitute who took the three points.
