Stick or twist
Scotland’s apparent head coach conundrum
Hello
Steve Clarke was in the news yesterday for two reasons - naming his squad for the upcoming friendlies and looking to his post World Cup future.
The latest squad is as conservative and predictable as you would imagine. Imagination not being Steve’s strong point. Despite regularly being seen at games he doesn’t seem too interested in picking anyone playing in those games.
So you are Steve, so you are.

My newsletter sales pitch managed to get me one new subscriber last week. It’s tough going right now and it would help me hugely if more people became paying subscribers. I’m offering a special price this month.
In an effort to get this newsletter to more eyes can I ask for a couple of things please.
Likes, shares, comments help to promote the newsletter more across the Substack community so please do that if you can.
If you’re currently a free subscriber please consider switching to becoming a paying subscriber. It really does make all the difference to supporting my work.
Subscribe now for only £2 a month by taking out an annual subscription at the special and limited time price of £24.
I’ve also been sharing my other newsletter Keith Notes since it started last month. I’ve only got a tiny number of subscribers there so please take a look and join in.
While I can understand not picking any Motherwell players under the thinking of they are better as a team than individuals (no way Clarke is getting the Stephen O’Donnell we’ve seen this season without JBA working his magic) he shouldn’t be using the same logic to Bloomhearts players such as Milne and Halkett.
Instead Steve has remained loyal to players who have virtually zero minutes in the legs this year.
