Nobody saw that coming
Tales from the World Cup Qualifiers and the SPFL Championship
Hey
I don’t think any of us could imagine Scotland would lose and we’d still be in with a chance of qualifying for the World Cup. Such is football.
Before we get to that night in Greece, I wanted to join in the celebrations of Ireland’s last gasp win over Hungary that saw them pip the Magyars to a playoff spot. It was sporting drama at its very best.
A towering Liam Scales, return of the log and a naked Parrott. What more could you want.

Aye, so Scotland in Greece. We’re going to get all the negativity out of the way today and be all positive tomorrow. Defensively we were all over the shop, especially in that first half with Hanley and Souttar bringing their very worst versions of themselves to the game. And then at the other end Che Adams was proving that he’s not a natural or even unnatural goalscorer.
When we went 3-0 down I almost sacked it off. Methuselah Gordon had been fantastic up until then. Once he withered it seemed like all was lost.
