New Year gifts from Scottish fitba
January gets off to a brisk start
Flipping flip.
There’s something to be said for getting this newsletter out early in the morning so you don’t have to fanny about with breaking news all day. What started off as a review of the weekend games became a 29 panel cartoon on the sacking of Jimmy Thelin which was subsequently binned when Wilfried Nancy got the heave too. With Ruben Amorim also getting his jotters the pool of candidates for these jobs is seriously diluted. Would Stephen Robinson really turn any of the three down?
That’s for another day.
I wanted to lead with the man of the people. A man who has outlasted many Premiership managers. A man who could not be prouder of his players and gives them the glory. A man who can stroll down Tannadice Street with a tote bag over his shoulder. Steven Pressley.
He’s some guy. Here’s Ash Hay slotting home the only goal of the game.
To the sackings then. Jimmy Thelin fell last night after a predictably turgid loss at Falkirk. But he did win the Scottish Cup though so he’ll always have a special place in the heart of Aberdeen fans.
It’s been very snowy in the Aberdeen area so the actual sacking was a bit different from the norm. As always, Fitbatweets was there.
