Happy Deadline Day
Loans, moans and videotape.
Hello
Not quite 9am but a good start. That’s because I’m already in a Deadline Day trance after switching on Sky Sports News at 7.45. The way they string out these minor transfer stories for hour after hour is quite something. The opinions of ex journeymen footballers seems to matter. My head is spinning from Mateta medical, Engels bids and some German lad dropping transfer grenades (their words not mine). What a honking tv channel it’s become.
Like I said on Saturday the well run clubs have already done all or nearly all of their business. In Scotland that means Bloomhearts and Rangers are sorted while the Good Ship Celtic are floundering with ins, outs and loans all over the place. Adam Binnie is spending the whole time next to a burger van at Celtic Park. Lucky boy.
The bombshell news from the weekend was from Livingston. You wouldn’t have thought they could generate a headline but they have. Davie Martindale has fired Davie Martindale as manager and moved Davie Martindale to the newly created role of sporting director.
Marvin Bartley is now in charge. Or is he. Who knows. If he is that can only mean one thing for the Livvy players.
There goes your PS5’s and Xbox’s then. I bet there’s a cupboard in Davie’s new office for them.
Performance of the week goes to Kilmarnock thanks to their first win in 17 games. Yeah I know it was against Aberdeen but a win is a win.
