Crisis? What crisis?
The LOL’s just keep on coming
Hello
We’re only done with week two of the league and already we have clubs that are reaching crisis point or are heading that way plus a couple of right upstarts.
Let’s start with Saturday’s big winners. Dundee beat Aberdeen for third straight time by 2 going on 10 to nil. The legend of Steven Pressley continues to grow and grow. It’s infectious.
On the flip side Aberdeen were fucking awful. Everything that Stephen Robinson’s appointment was meant to put an end to (such as questionable effort) was there again with a new bunch of players. Are we sure Cormack Park wasn’t built on an Indian burial ground?
Of all the managers Aberdeen have churned through in recent years I don’t think there’s one on a shorter leash with the fans than Robinson. These two meet again in the League Cup at Pittodrie. Yikes.
Shockerooni as Paisley won the All Saints Plate thanks to another K-Phil goal. Temporary table toppers for one day only for the Buddies.
On Sunday we started off with a trip to the new pitch at Rugby Pugby. In a show of respect to the hybrid surface Kilmarnock took the option not to defend which allowed Celtic to fire in five goals from more than 30 attempts on goal.
And it’s a first half hat-trick for Kasper Hogh. He’s going to fill a few onion bags by the time the season is done.
Better news for Bloomhearts as Wouter got his win. A 4-0 skudding of the Tangerine Terrors. Tom Renaud 5 with the best goal of the weekend.
So that’s one crisis club no longer a crisis club.
We’ll leave that to Rangers shall we. Leith Enigmas were the visitors as Derek McInnes looked for his first win. Not today Del.
Bit of a weird team selection to play Nico Raskin and the Pound Shop version of Nico Raskin together.
Didn’t really work eh Derek?
Leith took the lead thanks to Matthew MacDermid.
Shouldn’t have gone to VAR in my opinion but plenty others think different.
Rangers huffed and puffed with plenty of the ball but still needed a Chaiwa own goal late on to draw them level. With all the momentum would they go on and snatch the winner? Au contraire.
An injury time breakaway sees Callum Wright grab the points and get the Ibrix boo-boys lips all-a-puckering.
It was just as well Rangers had a shareholders meeting today so they could manage expectations, talk corporate wank and put an even bigger target on Derek’s back.
I don’t know what’s in CEO Jim Gillespie’s crack pipe to be spouting that but he’s surely never watched a Derek McInnes team play football before.
Please do share your weekend thoughts in the comments.
Back Wednesday for the paying subscribers edition. You should totally get on that.
Cheers
Keith
