Blame Games and Shame Games
That was an eventful weekend of football
Hello
A lot of blame and shame to go around. Congrats to Falkirk for getting through to the semis on Friday night and to Dundee for giving Motherwell’s title hopes a kick in the grunties while moving above Aberdeen in the league.
The shame began on Saturday night when Dunfermline dismantled cup holders Aberdeen 3-0. The result was no surprise, the performances were. Everything about Aberdeen was a disgrace. The Pars were excellent, everything you want from your team. Stand out performances from Andrew Tod and Matty Todd. Quite the weekend for Celtic enthusiast Neil Lennon too (worth noting he and Alan Hutton made a great double act on pundit duties yesterday). And no VAR was very refreshing.
My newsletter sales pitch managed to get me three new subscribers last week. It’s a start but it would help me hugely if more people became paying subscribers. I’m offering a special price this month.
In an effort to get this newsletter to more eyes can I ask for a couple of things please.
Likes, shares, comments help to promote the newsletter more across the Substack community so please do that if you can.
If you’re currently a free subscriber please consider switching to becoming a paying subscriber. It really does make all the difference to supporting my work.
Subscribe now for only £2 a month by taking out an annual subscription at the special and limited time price of £24.
Okay then, to Aberdeen. I’ve mentioned how my love for Aberdeen has waned recently to the point of ambivalence or worse. Not so it turns out as I was raging at what I witnessed on Saturday night. Honestly I could run an entire newsletter just on Aberdeen right now.
The blame can sit with non existent coaching, not arsed footballers, terrible recruitment.
For those who follow the NFL we have our own Jerry Jones and I think this is the fundamental problem for Aberdeen just as it is for Jerry’s Dallas Cowboys.
