After Eight
It’s Scottish Cup Quarter Final weekend
Hello
Such is the way of television dictating kick off times we have three night time QF’s over the next three nights. I won’t deny it’s nice to be able to watch them all but on the down side it’s not great for those who actually go to the games.
Here are the weekend fixtures courtesy of my ridiculously accurate Scotland map.
Falkirk v Dundee Utd tonight - home win.
Dunfermline v Holders Aberdeen Saturday night - home win.
Rangers v Celtic Sunday 1pm - home win.
Paisley Saints v Patrick O’Thistle Sunday night - home win.

I added another paying subscriber yesterday. That’s three this week. Progress.
Here’s a 2026 thing. I’m not really gaining any new subscribers this year. A handful of free subscribers and paying subscribers have actually dropped by a few. This makes me awfy sad. In an effort to get this newsletter to more eyes can I ask for a couple of things please.
Likes, shares, comments help to promote the newsletter more across the Substack community so please do that if you can.
If you’re currently a free subscriber please consider switching to becoming a paying subscriber. It really does make all the difference to supporting my work.
Subscribe now for only £2 a month by taking out an annual subscription at the special and limited time price of £24.
Earlier this week I mentioned my boredom with the Scottish football discourse. It shows no signs of abating. And here’s why. The marketing geniuses for the Scottish Cup came up with two people who could promote and talk about Sunday’s clash of Glasgow clans. Two people who won’t be involved in the TV coverage.
