An Anniversary Special
Hello and welcome to the Monday newsletter. Always the busiest one of the week so make sure and take up the subscription offer to enjoy all the action.
It’s a bit of an anniversary special today too. On Saturday we celebrated 50 years of Sportscene as Dougie, Archie and Jock returned to show the youngster how it’s done.
Although Archie was prone to a ramble in his Paisley commentary it was full of warmth and whimsy. So much personality came through in his words and that’s something you don’t really get nowadays. Jock Brown was my favourite back in the day and he’s still got that brilliant turn of phrase in the big moments. Then there was Dougie Donnelly. I thought he was great. So relaxed, made it look so easy and natural. An absolute delight to watch who deserves to still be on our screens. Aye, Gordon Smith was there too but meh.
Today also marks 7 years of Fitbatweets since it kicked off on Twitter in 2018. This was the first cartoon of a late kick on an injured Jonny Hayes by Steven Naismith.
7 years later I’d probably draw it like this.
Progress eh.
Thanks to everyone who has supported Fitbatweets over the last 7 years. I appreciate every one of you.
There were some cracking goals in the Premiership at the weekend but I don’t think any were quite as impressive as Young John Todd’s mesmerising run and finish for Dunfermline against Airdrie. Not bad for a centre half.
After the paywall…..the Monday Premiership review. Tears, regrettable remarks, a volley for the ages and a hat tip to analytics.
If you’re a fan of what I do then please take up this New Season Special Offer - £30 for an annual sub
To start the new season I nipped down to Pundit Club to announce an offer they couldn’t refuse and you shouldn’t either.
A year of The Fitbatweets Diaries for £30. Yes please.
The paywall is back after the offseason break so the only way to get the full and proper Fitbatweets experience is to become a paying subscriber. With over 1,700 cartoons drawn last season the value is beyond comprehension at £2.50 a month. Plus you’ll be supporting this old duffer in his bid to make a career out of cartooning.
